Dear Prof. Lewis:

	Grosof is energetic, eager and seems to understand ideas rather
well.  However, I still don't have a definite opinion as to whether his
plans will work out.  In particular, he may be overoptimistic
in planning to complete a thesis by September or even come close.

	I have not been his adviser and haven't tried to read his papers
carefully.  Vladimir Lifschitz has listened to Grosof more than I have
been able to, and has a point of view similar to mine.  Therefore, I have
relied partly on his advice in composing this letter.
